Picked up some blood oranges from Trader Joes today and was inspired to make margaritas. They were so delicious -- perfect blend of sweet and tart!
Here's what we did (Requires squeezing lots of citrus, but it's worth it!!):
makes two drinks
4 oz silver tequila (Patron or Milagra are my favorite)
3 oz fresh lime juice
3 oz fresh blood orange juice
3 oz water agave syrup to taste
The key to great margaritas is to shake them vigorously over plenty of ice.

Mmmmmm, tasty! I'm a fan of tequila, a bunch of fresh squeezed lime juice, and a bit of soda water. Here's why: lime juice helps to blunt the insulin response from the alcohol, maintaining your insulin sensitivity (no huge insulin spike). The soda water carbonation helps to get the alcohol into your blood more quickly. This has the practical effect of allowing you to drink a bit less for the same effect - but be careful - too many of these can knock you on your socks!
